Wales - North

Climbers, walkers, water and nature lovers flock to North Wales most especially for the spectacular Snowdonia National Park.  The Northern Coast is full of Victorian splendour and typical seaside towns.  Head far west and you will come across the welsh language being spoken in plenty.

NORTH WALES BORDERLANDS
For hikers it is worth climbing the dramatic Clwydian Range to explorer the Ceirlog Valley.  Lloyd George described it as a piece of heaven that has fallen to earth”. Erddig Hall is an essential visit with its beautiful 18th century gardens.   Llangollen will give you the biggest annual Food Festival in North Wales and it is also home to the International Musical Eisteddfod which attracts thousands of visitors a year.    The area is full of characterful  market towns and pretty villages, a real unspoilt area.

NORTH WALES COAST
This area covers the resorts of Llandudno, Colywyn Bay, Rhyl and Prestatyn all typical British Seaside resorts. Llandudno has a beautiful setting between the Great and Little Ormes - another great hike if you have the energy, otherwise take the tram or cabin lift to the top.   Once you reach the top you will appreciate some of the best views in Wales.  Take in the World Heritage House of Conwy with its Medieval Castle.

SNOWDONIA
Snowdonia is Wales tallest peak.  St Edmund Hilary trained on this mountain before climbing Everest. The area offers masses of off road cycling and of course it is a haven for walkers. Take the Mountain Railway which will deliver you to the summit in about an hour.   Snowdonia has more national nature reserves than any other park.  Its very rich in wildlife with rare birds.  Take in the bustling mountain resort of Betws-y-Coed sitting on a riverbank in an idyllic setting. Here sits the famous Swallow Falls.  There also lies the Snowdonia National Park centre.  Barmouth offers a less extreme walking festival covering 25 different trails and The Llyn Peninsula will also offer some lovely coastal scenery.
